Samantha Palmer

With over 25 years’ experience specialising in Professional Practices, Samantha acts on behalf of professional services entities, their lenders and other professionals, advising on business structure planning, obtaining regulatory authorisations and providing specialist regulatory support. Samantha joined the Solicitors Regulatory Authority in April 2012 and headed the Regulatory Management team until April 2015, leading the team that supervised the Top 200 law firms. Samantha led the Regulator's Financial Stability Programme and the SRA's AML Focus. As part of her work with the SRA's Financial Stability Programme, Samantha was heavily involved in the regulatory supervision of the largest law firms facing financial and regulatory challenges, including Cobbetts, Manches, Davenport Lyons and Challinors. Having returned to private practice since June 2015, Samantha continues to provide specialist regulatory support and guidance to professional services firms and their key stakeholders. She provides regulatory guidance and support in the highly regulated legal sector, including regulatory authorisations, investigations and business structure planning. In addition to providing specialist regulatory guidance to professional practices facing regulatory action, she also provides financial assurance services to professional practices, their lenders and other professional advisors. As part of our restructuring services, Samantha also takes formal Solicitor Manager Appointments, supporting Office Holders for law firms with all the regulatory requirements in this niche area. Recent appointments include KWM, Burroughs Day, LA Law, Linder Myers, Jeffrey Green Russell, GT Law, Gregsons, Sovereign, Carter Law and Isaac Abraham.
